4 years in the making… 48 months, 39 DJs, 29 parties, 8 photographers, 4 venues, 3 door girls, 2 residents, 1 graphic designer and last but certainly not least: You! The collective of friendly faces who’ve been throwing shapes with us to some of the finest underground talent House n Techno has to offer. MOOCH HQ feels extremely blessed to have met so many amazing people along the way, it’s really been a blast!! 2013 is already looking sweet with some awesome line ups in the pipeline and a brand new EP from Mooch Recordings, as always keep it locked… So what better way to pump up the birthday jam at our rave cave Basing House, than to invite Amsterdam’s hottest export to date… Get ready for a heads down, sleazy, tech-fest with….

Tom Ruijg [Hot Waves / Bangbang! / Karat Records]

Tom Ruijg’s story of how and why he became an artist is somewhat of a fairytail. After spending a big part of his teenage life on the dancefloor, Tom picked up DJ’ing in 2007 and a year later he started producing. Getting instant acknowledgment from Amsterdam house artists like Boris Werner, Tom released two remixes shortly after. His first solo 12″ followed early in 2010 on BangBang! It was an instant hit and BangBang! decided to sign him for two more singles. Starting to play live aside from DJ’ing Tom became more and more versatile and respected. Now, some years later with a full 12″ on Karat hitting the stores and tracks on one of the world’s hottest labels (Hot Creations), Tom’s future is as bright as ever.

Blowing the Birthday candles out on the night trusty residents Natalie Coleman & Ed Jones will be in charge of dishing out techno bumps to all the MOOCH familiar…. x

In July Mooch was invited back to host the Bullpen @ Noztock 2012. What started as a modest BBQ party has grown to a 5000+ capacity, boutique style festival not dissimilar to the likes of Secret Garden Party or Camp Bestival. Celebrating its 14th year, Nozstock ran from Friday to Sunday at Rowden Paddocks Farm in Bromyard, this year it featured eight stages of entertainment all with a weird and wonderful myths & legends theme.

After the 3 hour drive from London we set up camp in our usual spot, cracked open our beers and headed onto the site. Only a short walk from our field saw ample (clean) toilets / shower facilities, cash ‘n’ fag outlets, which is exactly what you want when living in a tent! Just inside the main entrance a selection of food stalls, serving hangover curing ‘all day breakfast pizzas’, tasty 100% Herefordshire beef burgers and not forgetting the finest west country Scrumpy and Perry cider all of which was our staple diet for the next 24hr.

Our corner of the festival was the ‘The Rave Yard’ an area which is home to the Cubicles and Bullpen (an actual former bull pen and working milking parlour.) Come sundown the yard filled up quickly with people fresh from a days hibernation due to their previous legendary mash up Friday night! The Cubicles hosted D&B heavyweights though out the evening while our home for the next 8 hours was the Bullpen. The space had earlier been in the good hands of Sika Studios hosting UK Hip Hop through out the day, but now it was early Saturday night, the stage was set and we were ready to rock. Natalie Coleman, Ed Jones, Dirty Byrd Samantha Blackburn and Noz residents Choose Life provided the crowd with House and Techno all night long….

The next morning was spent chilling and more eating before the journey home, the sun stayed out for us the whole time which was definitely the icing on our Noz festival cake. Jokes of the weekend were defiantly on the 2 blokes trying to get into the festival without tickets, they ended up a tree for hours having then to call the police to save them from the Bull literary acting as field security! Mooch crew highly recommend those of you wanting a festival that feels intimate, fresh, varied and well away from those commercial sponsors…..More info on 2013 tickets etc.? You can visit their website HERE.

BIG thanks to everyone that came down and partied with us on Saturday night and an even BIGGER thank you to Quenum [Crosstown Rebels] for his amazing set! It was certainly a party we will wont forget!!

We are delighted to announce this Summer MOOCH has been invited to host the ‘Bullpen’ at Nozstock 2012. Any veterans from last year’s hoe down will agree this unique boutique gathering with a strict 5000 capacity really hits the spot for those wanting that alternative festival experience.

The Bullpen is situated within The Rave Yard; Sika Studios host during the day, combining live graffiti with the best of underground British hip hop has to offer. By night, Mooch takes over the reins from 9-5am laying down some deep, tribal, house with a good measure of techno and leftfield electronic beats for those die-hard dance-a-holics. Alongside your trusty residents Natalie Coleman, Ed Jones & Nick Walters, we’ve invited back ‘Byrds’ Co-Founder and ‘Get Diverted’s resident DJ Samantha Blackburn. Nozstock’s offering to bass lovers, the Cubicles will be hosting dubstep and whompin’ drum n bass from the likes of Andy C, Ed Rush, DJ Zinc & Youngsta. Boasting a carefully-honed sound system courtesy of Dirt, Bristol, and with mesmerising visuals the Cubicles is all set to get your stomp on!

Nozstock offers allot more than just repetitive beats and wobbly basslines, another nine main stages of music entertainment, theatre and comedy, Real Ale and home brewed Cider bars and ample food stall’s serving the best in locally sourced produce. Hotel Bell tents and camping area are located in secret woodland glades around the site. The festival is held at The Farm, in Bromyard, Herefordshire from Friday 27th until Sunday 29th July 2012.
